Oriental Delights

Hello folks, the last fortnight over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges seems to have grown wings and flown away as today we have a new challenge for you. The entries for the Nature challenge are awesome so the Design team will be having a very hard time choosing the winners.
Our new theme for the next fortnight is Oriental and I had a bit of trouble with my offering for this one as I started my project 3 times before I was able to make something I'm reasonably happy with. You'll be a bit surprised as I've gone for a very bold colour scheme partly because of the image I used and partly because of the scrap of Japanese paper I found when looking for something else.
Here's the result:

The main image is a stamp I've owned for many years and I can remember buying it the year before 9/11 as there were lots of American companies at the London stamp show and after the attack many of them were too afraid to fly. I think I bought the stamp from Stamp Francisco as they always had masses of unmounted stamps - quite unusual in those days. I stamped the rather psychedelic image with black ink, coloured her with Promarkers, die cut her into a circle and sponged Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress inks round the outside.
I made the red background paper by inking card first with Mustard Seed and then Barn Door Distress ink and stamped on a flower from the Papermania oriental set with the red ink. I then stamped the Japanese serenity prayer by Oakhouse Studios in black in opposite corners.
I made the deep blue background paper by sponging first Stormy Sky then Chipped Sapphire Distress inks around just the edges of a piece of white card cut to size then stamped on another flower from the oriental set with the darker blue ink.
I stamped the large fan from the set with black ink and coloured with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and Promarkers then cut it out.
I assembled the card as you see, adding the square of found Japanese paper and a gold card mat to contrast with the deep blue paper.

The Design Team have made some absolutely stunning projects for this challenge so do pop over and prepare to be inspired.

Challenges for my card:
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards - Anything Goes
Try It On Tuesday - Anything Goes
Incy Wincy Design - Anything Goes

Thanks for looking and have a great day. I'm off to The Craft Barn Extravaganza so will see you later!
Hugs, Fliss xx
