Flowers Feed The Soul

Good morning folks, it's my turn to post today over at the Studio 12 Creative Team and my project is an idea for a special gift to make for a friend which is really easy to do. It's something which the recipient could easily add personal mementos, photos or little notes to and could be hung up in the kitchen, bedroom or craft room (those lucky enough to have one lol)

The base for my project is a pretty wire frame painted cream that came from The Range.
I made some little square collages to fit in the clips by resizing some of the pretty papers from the Heavenly Garden Kit on the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD down to 5cm. I then dropped them all into a Word document along with some hearts from the Welcome Home Kit on the CD also resized to fit on the paper squares. I printed this all out on to linen card for texture.
I cut everything out and made the elements into mini collages, embellishing with pressed flowers and leaves from my stash and inking all the edges of the squares with brown ink.

I added a pretty grungy sentiment from the Heavenly Garden Kit and made an embellishment by gathering up a piece of cream scalloped cotton lace to make a flower shape and fixed it to the frame with a jewelled brad through the centre.

Hope you're all having a good week so far and that you have a lovely day.
Hugs, Fliss xx

Vintage Floral

Good morning folks, hope you're enjoying the long weekend (those in the UK anyway) and yesterday's rain has given way to lovely sunshine at the moment.
There's a new challenge over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges today and this time it's my chosen theme of Floral - and/or Handmade Flowers as I really love making my own flowers.
My FSC team-mates have really risen to this challenge so do pop over to the catwalk for some totally amazing creations - thanks so much for these ladies!

My own inspiration is a vintage style card with loads of texture and I decided on soft colours too.
The floral background paper is made with Ranger Weathered White embossing powder on top of tan ink and I rubbed some of the powder off before heating for an even more shabby chic effect.
I added this to my card with some coffee coloured shimmer card embossed with the c-Art-us roses folder.
I stamped the lovely June by Scrollswork stamps with Archival coffee ink and coloured her with Promarkers. I cut her out then added to a die cut oval of buff card embossed with a floral folder. I added this to the card with a central lilac border cut with a Martha Stewart punch and decorated with pearls.
I made my layered flower with the Nestabilities carnation die set, cutting flowers from lilac and mauve card to layer up with a metal brad centre and inked the edges with violet for definition.
I finished off with some textured Prima leaves and a die cut Hobby Art sentiment then added a pearly flower to the lady's hat.

You have the next fortnight to enter the challenge and please don't forget that you must include stamping to be eligible for the prize or top 3 and no digital images are allowed.

Have a great day.
Hugs, Fliss xx

All Stitched Up!

Good morning folks, you're probably wondering where I've been with no blogging over the last few weeks and it's because I'm in the middle of a huge craft sort out as I've got to the stage of not being able to find things!
As well as this my mojo seems to have gone missing too so if any of you see it could you please send it home lol
It's time for a new challenge over at Polka Doodles and this week the theme chosen by shell is Stitching - Real or Faux. I had to cheat slightly with mine and use one of the samples made for Nikky's latest and gorgeous Here Comes Christmas CD as it has stitching on it.

A fairly simple design here but with lots of texture and my favourite kraft card too. The cute angel is coloured with Promarkers and detail added with Prismacolor pencils and glitter on her wings. Don't you just love the sweet little robin! I die cut the panel and added a mat of kraft card.
I used a piercing tool and a brown fineliner pen to add faux stitching on the background paper then added die cut hearts, one from hessian for texture and another with faux stitching done the same way.
One of the lovely borders from the CD, some buttons tied with thread and a sentiment coloured with Promarkers and also tied with thread complete my card.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and as this post is number 600 (!) there will be some candy very soon so keep an eye out for it!
Hugs, Fliss xx

Celebrating

Hello folks, hoping you're all OK and I'm now back from my holiday in gorgeous (also mostly very hot and sunny) Switzerland. I'll be posting some of my pics over the weekend once I've finished all my chores - washing etc!
Being Friday, we have a new challenge over at Polka Doodles with the theme chosen by teamie NJ who, with the end of the Olympics looming fast wants to see a CELEBRATION project. I decided on a general theme for my card using one of the lovely Emma Canning digital images available from the Polka Doodles shop. Here's what I made:

I've gone for a pretty pink and brown colour scheme, printing out the cute Millie - Birthday image and colouring her with various Promarkers before adding a little more detail with Prismacolor pencils. I then die cut the image and inked the edges with pink ink. I added this to a die cut mat of cross check paper from the Sugarplum Daisy CD.
I covered my card blank with brown polka dot paper from the PPC3 magazine kit and added a central border of lace from the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD.
I then printed out some of the pretty digital flowers from the Sundae Of Seasons CD, coloured these with Promarkers, cut them out and made them into an embellishment with punched leaves and pearls.
I finished off with a sentiment from the Sugarplum Daisy CD, die cut and coloured with Promarkers then embellished with pearls.

Have a great weekend everyone!
