Here Comes Summer

Good morning all, it's Monday again and this will be my last post for a bit as I'm off on my long awaited holiday very early on Wednesday morning. It will be a case (or so my hubby thinks!) of climb every mountain (I don't think!) as we're going to Switzerland on one of our favourite lakes and mountains holidays - I'm not a sit on the beach person, I much prefer scenery.
Talking of holidays, we're all taking a break for the month of August over at Make My Monday so this is the last challenge until September. This is mostly because Jacqueline has family commitments and I'd like to wish her well with everything she has to cope with.
The challenge is the last of Mynnette's Colour Wheel Themes and this week it's Split Complimentary Colours and in particular - Yellow, Bright Green and Fuchsia.
I've again used one of the lovely images by our sponsor for July, Priyanka of My Heart Pieces and here's my card:

You might recognise the yellow polka dot paper here as it's actually the piece leftover from making the frame on my beach themed card from last Friday and was the perfect fit for this card - how lucky is that!
I printed the image out 3 times and coloured with Aquamarkers, then cut out and decoupaged various sections for a 3D look. I die cut the main image with a similar shape to the dotty paper.
I next did some DIY washi tape using Stazon inks and the technique from a recent Craft Stamper. I stamped on the tape with a grid stamp and dark brown ink.
I added some fuchsia pink polka dot paper with rounded corners to the card blank and assembled it as you see, adding a stamped butterfly (Hobby Art) and a die cut Polka Doodles sentiment from the Sugarplum Daisy CD, both coloured with Promarkers.

Hoping that you can enter the challenge as you have a whole month to do this and we will be picking the winners at the end of the month.
Have a great week and will see you when I get back, refreshed and hopefully raring to go!
Hugs, Fliss xx

Complimentary Colours at MMM

Hello folks, my Make My Monday post is here a bit later than usual as I woke up on Saturday to find that my dear hubby had generously given me his recent cold which went straight to my sinuses and I've felt so yuck that crafting went out of the window!
I managed to finish off my card for the third of Mynnette's July colour challenges which this week is Complimentary Colours - Yellow and Purple.
My card features another of the cute images drawn by Priyanka of My Heart Pieces who is our sponsor for the month and the winner will receive 5 digital images of their choice.

My patchwork design uses some scraps from my leftovers box - the deeper yellow paper was inked and stamped with a floral design, the lemon and lilac card I embossed with a c-Art-Us rose embossing folder and the lilac polka dot paper is Polka Doodles from the Sugarplum Daisy CD.
I printed the image on to thick cartridge paper and coloured her with Aquamarkers. I die cut her into an oval and stamped flowers round the edge with yellow and purple inks.
I assembled the card as you see, adding a computer generated sentiment.

The Design Team have made a variety of cards for your inspiration and do pop over for a look as the different styles are amazing.

I'm off now to catch up on some more of my DT commitments which have got rather behind now!
Back soon, Fliss xx

Secondary Colours at MMM

Hello there everyone, hoping that you all had a good weekend despite the very wet weather and my commiserations to anyone involved in flooding. All we had here was a small one nearby as the rain water drains couldn't cope and flooded the road round the corner from me resulting in me having to drive through it to pick up my daughter from work. My wheel arches got a good wash!
Monday is here again and we have another of Mynnette's Colour Wheel challenges for you over at Make My Monday and this week the theme is Secondary Colours - Orange, Green and Purple so you may need sunglasses for my card as it's rather bright!

I've used one of the sweet images from our sponsor for July, Priyanka of My Heart Pieces and printed her out on to thick cartridge paper then coloured her with various Aquamarkers and cut her out. I set her on an oval mat embossed with the Cuttlebug dots folder.
I then dug out some paper scraps in the challenge colours and layered these up on my card blank, adding some stitched ribbon for texture.
I assembled the card as you see, embellishing with a layered flower and a wooden butterfly coloured with a Promarker to add colour (I was really pleased to see that the wood grain still shows through from underneath). I finished off with a computer generated sentiment, die cut with a Papermania label die, coloured with a Promarker and embellished with pearls.

We had some gorgeous interpretations of last weeks' Primary Colours challenge and can't wait to see what you come up with for this one. If you're stuck for inspiration, the Design Team have some very varied creations to get the creative juices flowing so do pop over for a look.

Have a great day,
Hugs, Fliss xx

Challenges for my card:
Sentimental Sundays - Bingo (Pearls, Flowers,  Stamp)
That Craft Place - Anything Goes

Primary Colours

Good morning folks, hope you all had a good weekend. I had a fabulous day yesterday dodging showers to watch all the wonderful demonstrators at The Craft Barn Extravaganza and particularly enjoyed watching Jean Hardy (and having a chat with the lovely Malcolm about Brighton), Lindsay Mason, Leandra Franich and Andy Skinner. I also met up with Claire (Happy Days) from the Polka Doodles DT and Alison (craftytrog) which was really lovely. Apologies to Helen Chilton too as I was going back to watch her demo when she was less busy but ran out of time!
As it's Monday and also July, we have a new monthly theme for the challenges over at Make My Monday and chosen by Mynnette the overall theme is the Colour Wheel. This week the challenge is to use Primary Colours, Red, Yellow and Blue. Here's what I made:

The flower is from a Hero Arts set and I stamped it repeatedly on white card to build up a floral scene - I was thinking meadow here in case you're wondering. I then coloured them with various yellow Promarkers and sponged on Stormy Sky Distress ink.
I stamped the B Line Designs butterfly with black and coloured this with red Promarkers then cut it out.
I assembled the simple card as you see adding a sentiment on a red card mat.

Here's Mynnette's first colour wheel interpretation above.

We are lucky enough to be sponsored this month by Priyanka of My Heart Pieces who is offering a prize of 3 digis of choice to the monthly winner. She has generously given the Design Team some gorgeous images to work with and my creation for next week will feature one of these.

Challenges for my card:
Dream Valley Challenges - Things With Wings
Dutch Dare Card Challenges - Flutterby Butterfly

Have a great day.
Hugs, Fliss xx
