A Return To Vintage - Raspberry Beret

 Hello again!

I managed to snatch a bit of much needed creative time just for me this weekend as I'd been looking for something and found something unexpected instead. As I've recently been working with the new small elements stamp sets and new stencils some of which are vintage in style and they're just perfect for the stamps I unearthed. I've had them all for ages and just had to play.

I stamped them all out first using VersaFine Clair inks in shades of brown, using smooth white stamping card that I got as a bargain from Hochanda a while back.

I had some inner panels spare from the frame shrines that I got to play with when Kelly's Steampunk Darlings stamps came out, so decided to use one of those. I painted it with chestnut brown multi surface paint and once dry gave it a coat of crackle glaze. Once it was mostly dry I over-painted it with a shade I mixed from several shades of multi surface paint - I used light pink, adding a little orange and magenta to produce a dusky vintage pink. As you can see, The crackle that came out was amazing!

The next step was to add some stencilled texture paste so I coloured the paste with some chestnut brown paint andd then used the gorgeous damask stencil to add a pattern in opposite corners. As it came out lighter than I expected, I lightly tapped the fully dry raised pattern with a dark brown ink and then heat embossed the pattern with clear powder.

I took my chosen stamped image and trimmed around the edges leaving quite a border. I wanted her to fit an MDF atc so left enough room round the image to add her to that with a frame on top. I stamped the frame with an image from the elements set above working my way round with brown ink and heat embossed the frame with gold embossing powder.

As you can see, she has a raspberry beret which I couldn't resist as that's one of my favourite songs from Prince - are you singing?

I then created some embellishments with craftyboard lace which I coloured lightly with Antique Linen oxide ink and then sponged with a touch of brown for a vintage look. I also stamped some MDF inchies with some of the images from the set and heat embossed these with gold powder. The colour's a bit off in the photo as they look brown but are actually gold!

I then assembled my collage using a mix of silicone and multi purpose adhesive and finished off with some text stamped with brown ink, heat embossed and trimmed into shape to fit.

I hope you like her and there will be more to follow once I get a bit more time to play.

See you soon,

Always Look For Rainbows!

Hello on a rather dull and blustery day. Hope you're all staying safe and well in our troubled times at the moment.
I have a project to share over at That's Crafty! Blog today which came about as I wanted to create something to show my appreciation for our brave and amazing care workers and this is the least I could do.
If you watched the Hochanda shows yesterday That's Crafty! had, you may have spotted this on the counter next to the gorgeous new stamp designs from the ever talented Melina Dahl. There's rewind if you missed them and they're well worth a look for some amazing demos from the lovely Jo Channon, back in the studio for the first time since lockdown started and her nasty brush with the dreaded Covid-19 virus.

If you'd like to see how I created my rainbow, please click HERE to be transported to the blog.

Have a lovely weekend and see you soon,

Back to Nature and all that!

Hello!

Hope you're all ok and managing to cope with all that's been thrown at you since the world went mad! This is a bit of a long post as I managed to snap a few pics on my walk this morning as nature is growing fast even if the rest of the world has come to rather a standstill.

I'm also over at That's Crafty! blog today where I've gone back to nature as I thought we could all do with a dose of serenity, the perfect time to share these particular art journal pages that were created for the February One Day Special on Hochanda.

I just love these gorgeous trees that were stamps created from the hand carved designs made by the very talented Lynne Moncrieff.

Now for my nature photos that I had to snap as it's so lovely to see nature in bloom.

I hope you like these as must as I enjoyed seeing and snapping the original flora.

Stay safe and well and keep on crafting!

All Floral at That's Crafty! Blog

Hello! Rather a windy and dull day today with just a tiny peek of sunshine but so cold it definitely doesn't feel like June - I actually had to wear my winter coat out today although I only had a short sleeved frock under it :D
I'm over at That's Crafty! Blog today with another of the samples that I made for the last Hochanda shows and this week I'm sharing a many layered card with stencilling and stamping. If you'd like to see how I created it please do hop over HERE

Have a great weekend and see you soon.

Affirmations ATCs and more

Hello, it's been a very wet, cold and dismal day here and it's very hard to believe it's actually June when it seems more like April!
I have something rather cheery to share as I've been joining in with the challenges over at Mixed Media Learning Zone and the final one is affirmations. I've made a trio with my own affirmations and I hope you like them.

I've also got a card to share as it was my niece Lucy's birthday on Saturday and I made her a simple card with a floral theme and my favourite birthday sentiment (a Hero Arts stamp I've had for ages).

Have a great week and see you soon.

Arty Card and Other News

Hello on a rather wet and dismal Friday. Hope you're all ok and I'm wondering where the summer has gone after the last few sunny days!
I'm over at That's Crafty! Blog today with a rather arty card which is one of the samples I made for the last Hochanda shows That's Crafty! had in May. It features a lot of layered stencilling and stamping and you can find all the details over at the blog by clicking HERE if you'd like to see how it came about.

On another note, I've been joining in with the challenge by Mixed Media Learning Zone on their Facebook group with the prize of a place on their Summer Wellspring School and I've done the first 2 which are below. The first was monochrome in just black and white and the second finger painting and my love of colour has come out to play for that one.

I still have to do the 3rd one which is affirmations so will post that when I get it done as I've really enjoyed stretching my creativity which has been a bit tired lately with life getting in the way.

Have a great weekend and see you soon.

Floral Bag for That's Crafty!

Hello everyone on what seems to be finally a lovely Spring day. We have sunshine and the happy birds are singing as I type this. Hoping it lasts as it's much needed after the bank holiday washout!

I'm over at That's Crafty! Blog today sharing a rather different project this week as I've been painting and stamping on fabric and I think I might become a little addicted so watch this space!

Have a great day and a lovely weekend and see you soon.
