Blossoms And A Butterfly

Hello everyone, hope you're having a good day. The sunshine has reappeared here and I've just got back from going to the dental surgeon with my hubby who lost a tooth several weeks ago and decided to go the implant route (no pun intended!) and he didn't want more work in the future which may happen with a crown. He's just had the first part of the treatment and is fine apart from the woolly mouth sensation.
I have a card to share with you from my file of photos of as yet unblogged (is that a word?!) cards which fits several challenges.
The background paper for the card was made by embossing one half of a square of white card with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder and using the debossed side. I sponged Milled Lavender Distress ink on the flat half and then stamped on a flourish from the My Paper World flourish set in the same ink.
I then swiped the ink pad over the debossed side as this gives a slightly stronger inked effect.
I stamped the gorgeous blossoms and butterfly image (item 1183 by La Blanche) which is a new type of silicone stamp with fine detail requiring very little pressure for a beautifully stamped image in black ink and coloured it with various Prisma pencils. I cut this out with a Nestabilities scalloped circle and mounted this on a circle of plum paper.
I finished off with a strip of the same plum paper (by Polka Doodles) punched with the Martha Stewart double edge doily punch. I added lots of pearls!

I'm entering the card in the following challenges:
The ABC Challenge - P is for Pearls
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
The Sunday Stamper - Nature
The Stamp Man Challenge - Curls and Swirls (on my background)

Thanks for looking,
Fliss xx

Tilda

Hello everyone, I'm here with something you probably thought you'd never see me doing. I decided to enter Sally's theme at Tuesday Taggers which is to Step Outside your Comfort Zone and boy have I done that today!
I've had a couple of Magnolia Tilda stamps sitting in my stash for quite a few years now, having bought them from Sir Stampalot at a show thinking that I must see what all the fuss is about. As they're so not me, they've been unused ever since so with Sally's theme to encourage me, I've made a card with them.
It certainly wasn't easy as I also made myself use decorated paper which I'm still learning to use after years of making my own.
So here it is:
I stamped Tilda and her cat and coloured them with Promarkers. I cut Tilda out using the Nestabilities Label 2 Set (available from Polka Doodles), off setting her slightly to the left side. I cut the cat out to set at her right side as she looks as though she's gazing down at him.
I cut a label shape mat from K & Co Recycled Rose Reds paper and stuck the panel to this. I then cut a panel from Papermania's Sunshine Capsule Collection and stuck this to a slightly larger panel of the K & Co paper. I added another panel of yellow paper to a large card blank and added the other panels as shown.
I finished off with some flowers altered with H20 paints, centres made from brass stampings from Empire Beads and attached with metal brads. I added a sentiment from Hobby Art's clear stamp set CS013D Anna's Collection Floral Greetings, stamped on the yellow paper and stuck to a mat embossed round the edges using my M & F score board.
I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Fab 'n' Funky Challenges - Metal Mania - my flower centres
ABC Challenge - Unused Stash - my stamps
Tuesday Taggers - Step Outside Your Comfort Zone - my stamps
I Love Promarkers - Sketch

The Rhythm Of Life

Hope you're all having a good start to your weekend.
Before I show you the card I've just finished, I want to say hello to a few new followers that have joined my little band recently. Thanks to you all and I hope you'll like today's creation which is a vintage style card, my absolute favourite style to make.
I'd like to enter my creation in the following challenges as I think it fits the theme nicely:
ABC Challenge with a theme of Q for Quotation
Gingersnap Creations Challenge GC46 Spicy Supply Challenge-Frosting
One Stitch At A Time Challenge with a theme of Vintage
And Lots To Do Challenge also with a theme of Vintage (thanks to Hilda for letting me know about this one as I managed to miss it in my reading list)
My image is by the lovely June of Dezinaworld from her beautiful Dance collage sheet. I printed the image out, cut her out and inked the edges with a blue grey ink to make her stand out. I then rubbed gently on the reverse with an embossing ball tool to round the image out.
I inked the edges of a white oval with VersaColor Topaz ink and stuck the lady on with foam tape. I matted this on a larger oval after rubbing the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink. I then made a pretty border with pearls and gems (it took a little while but I felt the end result worth it).
I made a panel using my Twist on Resist Technique with copper metallic ink, pearl embossing powder, Dried Marigold and Peeled Paint Distress inks and Olive Green Stazon ink (see my side labels for the tutorial on how to do this as it's easy when you know how!) The stamp I used is by Impression Obsession-Solid Florals CL124 clear stamp set.
I made a narrow panel embossed using the Cuttlebug Textile folder, rubbed it with Vintage Photo ink and then sprayed it with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist. I added cream crochet lace and a pink fabric rose plus my text which I generated on the computer and over-stamped with a music score using Topaz ink.

Artful Life

Hello everyone. Hope you've got a lovely sunny day like we have in the South today.
I've a card here which fits 3 challenges and which gave me very blue hands until this morning after an accident with a really leaky Cosmic Shimmer spray bottle. Was I glad I didn't have to go anywhere yesterday evening!!!
The first challenge is The Play Date Cafe with a colour theme this week of dark brown, tan, blue and green.
The second is the ABC Challenge with a theme of N is for New which on this card is the gorgeous butterfly and leaf stamps.
Lastly, the third challenge is Lots To Do with a theme of Backgrounds (make your own that is which you all know is right up my street!)
The collaged background here was created by stamping Judikins 2957 H and Hero Arts Art, Like and Beauty G2678 twice-once in VersaFine Vintage Sepia and once in VersaFine Majestic Blue. The brown images were then inked with Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. The blue ones were inked with Pine Needles and Broken China Distress inks. They were then sprayed with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist. These were then adhered to a card blank. A corrugated panel painted with deep blue acrylic paint was adhered across the centre.
The butterfly was stamped in brown on a background sprayed with green and blue Sticky Fingers inks, followed by Cosmic Shimmer Aqua mist.  It was embossed with clear powder and brushed with Distress Stickles in Tarnished Brass.
The leaves were stamped in brown, inked with Distress Inks and sprayed with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist for a bit of sparkle.

In The Navy

Another card today for 3 challenges this time and this one is for the men. As it has a nautical theme, I couldn't resist the In the Navy title, the only trouble being what springs immediately to mind is the rather camp Village People song (are you all singing now lol).
The first challenge is the ABC Challenge with a theme this week of M is for Masking and I've used Tim Holtz's Compass Mini Mask to make the background paper.
The second is Fab 'n' Funky Challenges with a colour theme of Blue, Green and White.
The third is Quixotic Challenges with a theme this week of Ink Up An Old Stamp which is my Hampton Art Nautical collage which hasn't been out of the box for a couple of years.

To make the background I sponged acrylic paint in shades of blue and green on pale blue card using the Tim Holtz mask to make the compass pattern.
I stamped the Hampton Art Sail 4528 image in VersaFine Deep Lagoon ink on pale blue card.  I trimmed the edges and matted it on green card.
I photocopied an old naval recruitment poster from one of my hubby's many nautical books and tore the edges. The sentiment is computer generated and I added 2 sea themed charms to finish.

Valentine

I know it's a little early for Valentines but I've just finished making some samples up for Nikky of Polka Doodles whose brand new CD entitled Love & Cherish is being launched on Sunday 10th January at 11am on Create & Craft TV.

There are some absolutely gorgeous papers and toppers on the CD suitable for all sorts of occasions, not just those involving love (!). There will be more samples appearing here soon too, although I'm entering this one in this week's ABC Challenge with a theme of L for Layering. I found out about this challenge from Brenda, a fellow Polka Doodler and if you'd like to see a fabulous sample from the CD that she's made, click here.
The card is made using 2 of the papers with a border layered across the middle along with some black lace. I've added one of the cute toppers, matted on black card and a paper flower embellishment with a punched flower centre and a jewel to finish.
