New Year

Hello everyone, hoping you all had a very lovely Christmas and that Santa brought you some lovely pressies too. Apologies for my lack of visiting which is because I've been really busy with family stuff and had to work right up to Christmas so didn't have much time for blogging.
I also hope that none of you have been flooded out in the North but my sympathies are with anyone affected as I felt so sorry for all those poor folk whose Christmas was completely ruined this year.

We have a new challenge for you today over at Make My Monday which with the new year fast approaching has the theme of New Year or Calendar.

I've made a simple one layer card which started off with the clock from the Kaisercraft Time Machine set being stamped with Archival Watering Can Ink.
I then stamped the Carabelle Studio Journal du Jour image twice with Mustard Seed Distress ink followed by the star background stamp also by Carabelle Studio with Cracked Pistachio Distress ink.
I finished off with some orange and blue letters and numbers die cut with the Tim Holtz Vintage Market alphabet strip set.

I'll be back on Friday if not before as this week I have the honour of starting off a whole new year of tutorials at That's Crafty and if you haven't yet signed up to follow I can recommend it as 2016 has some very exciting things happening!

Anything Goes At That's Crafty Challenge Blog

Hello again and welcome to my inspiration for our new challenge today over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog which has the theme of Anything Goes!
I've made another art panel with my favourite nature inspired theme.

I started off by painting my A4 size white/greyboard panel with yellow and green acrylic paints which I applied with sponges. Being white there's no need for gesso!
I then used 2 That's Crafty Dinky Stencils with a darker grren and orange paint to apply the pattern for my background. A little in your face, but I like it!

Next I painted 3 of the white/greyboard atcs with a mix of orange, yellow and green paints and stencilled these with contrasting colour and the same 2 stencils.

I then stamped the bird (Carabelle Studio Every Bird) with Archival Jet Black ink on white stamping card, added a little colour to the beak and branch and cut the image out.

I next stamped some of the daisy heads from the Tim Holtz Flower Garden stamp set on white card and added colour with pencils before cutting them out. I stamped the leafy stalks on green painted paper and cut these out.

I added the atc panels to mats of a darker green card to make them stand out and glued them to my panel. I added all my cut out images and finished off with text from the Carabelle set stamped on white card with black ink and trimmed to a panel.

I may not have time to post again before the big day so I'd like to wish everyone a very Haapy Christmas and all the best for 2016.

See you soon!

It's my day to post at That's Crafty and this week I'm sharing a liitle art panel made with one of the fab That's Crafty surfaces, a white/greyboard postcard.

Wings At Christmas

Hello everyone, hoping you had a lovely weekend. Mine was rather busy as it was my hubby's birthday so we had our two down from London for the weekend and although we didn't go out for a meal having had my hubby's office Christmas dinner on Thursday, we had a great time with family. I can't believe it's Christmas next week - eek! Where did the time go and why haven't I finished my Christmas shopping!!!

We have a new challenge for you today over at Make My Monday and this time it's Wings At Christmas so for my inspiration my favourite Dina Wakley scribbly bird is a robin again and I've used up a piece of my Christmas masterboard too for a very simple design that I hope you like.

The masterboard was made with Brusho crystals and stamped with trees and text from the Tim Holtz Scribbly Christmas stamp set with Mowed Lawn Distess ink and Olive Archival ink.
The bird was stamped on smooth cartridge paper with Watercan Can Archival ink and then painted with Brusho Crystals and cut out when dry.
I stamped the Christmas text across the base of the card blank with Fern Green Archival ink and then glued the paper panel and the painted bird on the card.

Have a great week and see you soon.

White Christmas At Make My Monday

Hello everyone and hope those of you in the UK are surviving the current nasty weather. Hoping too that none of you are flooded out as the pics on the news last night made me feel so sad for all those poor people affected especially at this time of year too.
I'm here today with my post for our new challenge this week at Make My Monday which has the theme of White Christmas. I have to admit to having stretched the theme a little but snowflakes are white - right!
I have to say this is also the quickest card I ever made in my life involving stamping which took less than 10 minutes from start to finish so hope you like it!

Here's how to make it:
  • Take one square kraft card blank.
  • Using Versamark ink, stamp on snowflakes in the top half, varying as shown.
  • Heat emboss the snowflakes with white detail powder.
  • Stamp the Tim Holtz text (Scribbly Christmas) with Versamark and heat emboss as before.
  • Use a Sharpie fine white paint pen to add dots as shown.
How easy is that! I used some snowflake stamps I've had for many years too by Denami and Art Impressions - I still think they're the best!

The Design Team have made some fabulous inspiration for you if you'd like to see. Hope you can join us too.

Have a great week.

Season's Greetings At That's Crafty Challenge Blog

Hello again, I'm here with the details and some inspiration for our new challenge over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog which has the theme of Season's Greetings so it's the perfect time to share your Christmas creations.
I have a quick and easy Christmas topper technique to share as I managed to make all these toppers from an A4 sheet of smooth cartridge paper and it only took me around 20 minutes to make the background colours.

I cut my A4 sheet into 8 roughly equal pieces and then used my 3x5 Gelli Plate with Fossilised Amber and Twisted Citron Distress inks which I applied lightly and misted with water before pressing the paper on, repeating this with all the paper then leaving to dry.

I then used the Tim Holtz Scribbly Christmas stamp set to stamp the trees and greetings on with Archival Fern Green ink. I then applied a random pattern with the Amber Distress ink and the That's Crafty Distressed Harlequin Dinky Stencil. You'll see there's a sneaky one with trees stencilled which I did first and then decided was a bit much! I ran the green ink round the edges of each piece to make them stand out a little.

Here's a very simple card I made with one of the toppers - it's fairly flat to be post friendly.

All I did was emboss the white card blank with the Darice corner snowflake flourish embossing folder to add some lovely texture and glued on my topper. How easy is that!

If you enter, there's a fab prize of a £20 voucher for the online shop for the randomly drawn winner.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

A Frosty Wreath For That's Crafty

Hello everyone, I hope you've all had a good week in the rather strange weather we've had. It's been unseasonably warm down here in the South but extremely windy which I don't like!
I have a little bit of home decor to share over at That's Crafty as I've finally managed to finish what I actually intended for last week. The colours are a little Autumnal but I've made it frosty to add a little Wintery effect. Hope you like it!

As you can see, this is just a peek and if you'd like to hop on over to the blog, you'll find all the details over there.

I'll be back in a while with all the info on our new challenge over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog.

See you soon.

Stamp Without A Stamp At Make My Monday

Hello everyone, I'm a little late with my post for our new challenge at Make My Monday which has been chosen by Shawna and shock, horror, the theme is to Stamp But With Something That Isn't A Stamp!
Here's my rather zingy inspiration which I hope you like.

I made the background by using my fingers to apply several shades of acrylic paint to a piece of mixed media paper. I then used a piece of netting that held fruit as a stencil to apply Ranger Dye Ink in Wild Orchid and Electric Lime to the painted paper.
I used a That's Crafty Dinky Stencil with Archival Watering Can ink to apply the dotty pattern to the paper. I then used 3 different sizes of bottle caps with all 3 inks to apply the circles randomly to the paper.
I coloured some paper with the 3 shades of ink and die cut the flowers and centres from these with some X Cut flower dies. I drew the stalks and glued the flowers on then added this to a card blank. I finished off with some Tim Holtz Big Chat stickers.

Have a great week and see you soon.

Angel Wishes For That's Crafty

Hello everyone and welcome to today's post which is to let you know that I have a project to share over at That's Crafty Blog.

Here's a sneak peek and you'll find all the details over at the blog if you'd like to hop on over. It's not exactly the project I planned for this week either and ended up being kind of thrown together at the last minute as I ran out of time to finish my other creation. That will be for next week!

I'm sorry if I haven't been round lately too which is because my spare time has been severely cut down for various reasons. I'm hoping for some more time very soon!

Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me and see you soon.

Oh Christmas Tree At Make My Monday

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend despite the somewhat chilly weather. I woke up yesterday morning to sunshine but the coldest day for a long time as it was -1.5 degrees and we normally only get that in February in the middle of the night!
Today sees the start of a new challenge at Make My Monday and Caz has chosen the seasonal theme of Oh Christmas Tree so would like to see Christmas trees of the outdoor or indoor variety as the focal point on your creation.
For my inspiration my Tim Holtz Scribbly Christmas trees came to the rescue.

I stamped the trees on medium surface cartridge paper with Archival Fern Green and Adirondack Butterscotch inks. I then added a little colour with Intense pencils and cut the images to a panel.

I stamped the text repeatedly on a strip of the same paper with the Fern Green ink. I then used a ruler with the Adirondack Cranberry marker pen to draw a box around round the edges of the panels.

I glued the panels to a long card blank I made from an A4 sheet of card to finish.

Have a great week and see you again soon.

Black And White With Just A Hint Of Colour

Hello again and welcome to my inspiration for our new challenge over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog and my title may just give you a hint of the theme :D

I've made a simple one layer card with just one stamp set, the fabulous Don't Forget To Fly by Finnabar for Prima.
I stamped the main image first with Archival Jet Black ink and then stamped the text bubbles and butterflies randomly around it. I added the dare text near the top, stamping further bubbles over the top for balance.
I then added just a touch of colour using Crimson Brusho Crystals to paint the smaller butterflies and some of the bubbles.
As you see, simples!

I hope you can join us as there's a fab prize of a £20 voucher for the online shop with it's amazing array of goodies.

Good luck!

I have to go and see them yet again so hope you'll wish me luck!
It's my day to post at That's Crafty and this week I've another Christmas card to share to add to my slowly growing heap. Hope you like it.

You'll find all the details over at the blog if you'd like to hop over and see how it came about.

Architecture At Make My Monday

Hello there everyone, I'm here with a rather late post for my inspiration for the new challenge at Make My Monday chosen by our new DT member Shawna who would like to see your creations with ARCHITECTURE as the theme.
My post is a bit late as we had internet issues which are now resolved thank goodness and here's my offering which is an addition to my slowly growing festive heap!

My image is one of the Michael Powell stamps for Papermania Urban Collection which I picked up at a bargain price after Christmas last year. I stamped it with Archival Jet Black ink and then painted the image with Twinkling H20s - quite a lot of sheen that doesnt show in the photo, sadly.
I trimmed it to a panel and added it to a silver card mat. I embossed my white card blank with a Darice corner snowflake flourish embossing folder then stamped and embossed the Tim Holtz sentiment with silver detail embossing powder. I added the painted image to finish. Simples!

I hope you can join us and you'll see there are quite a few different interpretations on the theme too if you hop on over to the blog to see.

Back soon.

Here's a sneak peek of my project over at That's Crafty today which is a pge in my art journal which came about very quickly once I got going. Hope you like it.

Tag - You're It!

Hello again and welcome to my inspiration for our new challenge over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog which for the next fortnight has the theme of Tag - You're It!
My tag is mixed media this time as I've finally cracked open my tube of Maimeri Iridescent Paste.

I made the tag by die cutting some flowers from white card with the Creative Expressions Perfect Peony Die Set by Sue Wilson. I glued these on to a Ranger Size 8 manila tag.
I then took some DecoArt Fuid Acrylics in Yellow Green Light, Blue Green Light and Yellow Oxide which I mixed one at a time with the Maimeri Paste and applied to the tag over the top of the glued on flowers.
When the paint paste had dried I rubbed some Carbon Black and and Patina Green DecoArt Antiquing Cream which I rubbed around the flower shapes to make them stand out. I glued some bronze sequins over the top.
I stamped the Carabelle Studio butterfly on a scrap of orange Gelli print paper with black ink, cut this out and glued it to the tag.
I finished it off with some wired ribbon.

There's a fab prize of a £20 voucher for the online shop for the randomly drawn winner so do enter if you can,

Have a great weekend and see you soon.

Autumn Colour At Blenheim

Hello everyone, this is a rather quick post to share some of my photos from our recent break to lovely Oxfordshire where we stayed at Woodstock just 5 minutes walk from Blenheim Palace.
Sunday was the most glorious sunny day more like September than 1st November reaching almost 20 degrees and these are just some of my photos from this day. Hope you like them!

The first one shows the slight mist on the lake when we arrived but it soon cleared to give the gorgeous blue skies - no Photoshopping here I promise!

There will be more at the weekend as our second visit on Tuesday turned up some equally gorgeous misty weather.

See you soon.

Shabby Chic At Make My Monday

Hello there from an exceedingly misty Woodstock (well, it is the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness!). I'm a bit late with this post as I'm away and have a rather dodgy internet connection but I wanted to let you know we have a new challenge today over at Make My Monday and you can probably tell I picked the theme as it's Shabby Chic which I'm sure you know how much I love.

Here's my inspiration which I hope you like as it's very vintage in style.

The background paper is a piece of rough watercolour paper which was coloured by pressing in Crushed Olive and Victorian Velvet Distress inks misted with water. I then used the same inks to stamp on a Hero Arts frond image.

I painted a panel of corrugated card with deep green acrylic paint and then swiped on some dusty pink when it was dry. I added the pretty vintage image (Dezinaworld) to the panel.
I glued the background panel to a pink card blank and added a central dry embossed border of pink card using the Cuttlebug Victoria folder swiped with gold ink. I then added a pink punched border over the top and glued on the corrugated panel.
I made a wire embellishment by twisting beads on to green wire to make a pretty spray which I glued on the card with a fabric flower and some Prima paper leaves to finish.

We spent a glorious day at Blenheim Palace yesterday which is a 5 minute walk from our hotel and I'll have some pics to share soon as the grounds are just gorgeous in their Autumn splendour and it was so warm and sunny it was more like September than November and was apparently the warmest November day on record!
We visited Oxford today and took in the dreaming spires, wandering in a slight daze among the incredibly beautiful architecture and went on a tour of the Bodiean Library where we weren't allowed to take photos and sadly the postcards don't do it justice so I will just have to keep the memory in my head - needless to say it was the perfect place to visit for someone who is often lost in a good book!

See you again soon with some of my pics.

Ho Ho Ho Tag For That's Crafty

Hello everyone and sorry yet again for my lack of visiting and blogging as I've been immersed in Auto Enrolment (aka the Workplace Pension) at work, wrestling with all the things that have to be done which seem never ending plus quite a few software problems, technology being wonderful until it doesn't work!!!
I have a post today over at That's Crafty and this week I'm sharing a Christmas tag featuring one of those cute crazy birds. Hope you like it.

You'll find all the details over at the blog as usual and hope you'll pop on over too!

Have a great weekend and see you next week.

A Haunting We Will Go!

Hello again, I'm back with news of our new challenge today over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog which this time has the theme of a Haunted Halloween so it's time to get spooky!
My inspiration which I hope you like is a little arch shaped panel.

Ingredients:

Stampendous Skeleton Lady Cling Stamp
That's Crafty Dinky Stencil - Flight of the Bats
Tando Creative - Arch With Spider Web
Archival Jet Black Ink
Distress Ink - Hickory Smoke, Black Soot
Brusho Crystals - Emerald Green, Orange, Violet
Silver Detail Embossing Powder
Water Mister
Stamping Paper

I coloured the paper with the Brusho Crystals spritzing lightly with water to spread the colour. When it was dry I stamped on the skeleton lady image and then used the stencil to add some bats with te black Distress ink. I cut this to the size of the back panel and glued it on.
I inked the spider web frame with the Hickory Smoke Distress ink and whilst it was still wet sprinkled a little embossing powder on the web and heat embossed it.
I glued this to the back panel to finish.

Hope you can enter as the randomly drawn winner will receive a voucher for the online shop where you'll truly be spoilt for choice.

Have a great weekend.

Inchies or Twinchies at Make My Monday

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine involved VAT (yuk!) as I got a bit behind due to being ill last week so it wasn't exactly a rest! Still, it's all done now thank goodness!
We have a new challenge today over at Make My Monday and would like to see your creations involving Inchies or Twinchies.

The paper I made for my inchies involved Distress Stains in Crushed Olive, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Ripe Persimmon which I smooshed (love that word!) on smooth cartridge paper. I cut this into inchies.
I then used a set of Hobby Art clear stamps and stamped these on with Archival Jet Black ink. I inked the edges of the squares with Peeled Paint Distress ink and added them to a tall card blank.
I added a border of similar Distress Stain paper with a punched top that I found in my paper bits box and stamped it in black with a lace border stamp.
I finished off with a Prima paper flower and a button centre.

Have a great week.

Someone To Watch Over You For That's Crafty

Hello everyone, I'm really sorry not to have been round to see you this week or so which is because I still have the nasty bug I went down with at the beginning of last week. I'm at the horrible coughing stage and it's made me rather tired so I haven't felt much like crafting.

I have a project to share today over at That's Crafty Blog which I hope you like.  It's just as well I created this last week as I haven't made anything since!

Have a great day and a lovely weekend and I'm hoping to be back very soon.

Boys Will Be Boys At That's Crafty Challenge Blog

Hello again and welcome to my inspiration for our new challenge at That's Crafty Challenge Blog where we're following the last girly theme with Boys Will Be Boys.
I was really glad of this theme as one of my nephews has a birthday at the end of the month so I've made his card a bit earlier than I normally do!
His birthday is actually on Halloween but I managed to restrain myself this time and not make a spooky one - largely because he's a bit too old for those now!

I've turned one of those quirky and cute crazy birds into a rather cool dude don't you think?

The background was made with Sandstone and Grey Brusho Crystals and I then used the Chevrons Background Dinky Stencil with Chipped Sapphire Distress ink followed by the Star Shower Dinky Stencil with Peeled Paint DI.

I stamped the crazy bird on some orange Gelli print paper from my stash (I keep a few plain ones for stamping images such as flowers, leaves and birds). I stamped the portion of the bird with the beak on a scrap of yellow print paper, then the sunglasses and bowler hat from the Crazy Things stamp set on smooth cartridge paper (I coloured these with Grey and Cobalt Blue Brushos used as paint) and then die cut everything out with the Crazy Birds and Crazy Things die sets - these are fab if your cutting out of intricate images is not great like mine!

I stamped the birthday text from the Crazy Thoughts stamp set directly on the background paper and glued this to a card blank before adding the bird with his funky hat and shades.

Hope you can enter as the lucky randomly drawn winner receives a £20 voucher for the online shop and the amount of fabulous goodies has to be seen to be believed (my favourite being the latest Carabelle Studio release!).

Have a great day and a lovely weekend.

Believe In Strength For That's Crafty

Hell everyone from a rather miserable Fliss as I managed to get a nasty sinus/cold thing which appeared out of the blue on Tuesday and I'm feeling somewhat yucky as the last time I got something like this was nearly 3 years ago!
I've another sneak peek of my project today over at That's Crafty as I shared one on Monday in celebration of the newly launched second wave of Dinky Stencils which in common with the rest of the DT, I really love as they're so versatile.

You'll find all the details of my journal page over at the blog and do take the time to hop on over as my DT mates have made some gorgeous things with the new stencils so it's well worth a good look!

I'll be back in a while as we have a new challenge starting today over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog and I loved this one as it gave me the opportunity to get another birthday card done for later in the month.

Cats At Make My Monday

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a lovely weekend with some sunshine as we did down here in the South of England. e've definitely had an Indian Summer the last week!
This is a rather quick post again to let you know we have a new challenge today over at Make My Monday and the theme is Cats - Big or Small.
I've chosen to ink up my favourite cat stamp by Lost Coast Designs with a rather tongue in cheek sentiment which seemed to fit the expression on the cat's face.

I made the background with a Carabelle Studio stencil and Distress inks - Twisted Citron and Salty Ocean. I then added mats of turquoise and navy blue.
I stamped the cat with Archival Jet Black ink and coloured him with watercolour pencils then cut him out.
The text is from the Tim Holtz Crazy Talk set and was stamped on navy card with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white detail embossed powder then trimmed to a panel with scissors.
I assembled the card as you see.

Have a lovely day and a great week.

Scribbly Christmas For That's Crafty

Hello everyone, I hope you've all had a great week and I'm here with a very quick post to let you know that I've got my Friday post over at That's Crafty and this week it's Christmas- eek!
I thought I should make a start or I'll never get them all made so I created a masterboard which is great for making a background for several cards at once.
Pop on over to the blog to see how I made it.

Have a great day and a fab weekend and see you next week!

Autumn Colours at Make My Monday

Hello everyone, hope you're all well and had a lovely weekend. Mine was rather busy as I had yet another optician visit as they're still trying to get my glasses right (at the moment I can just about see to do the washing up!!!) as I can only wear them indoors. There was a lot of tutting this time as I saw a different optometrist who got rather cross as she said my prescription was completely wrong (well duh!) and the glasses have now gone for replacement lens. All fingers and toes crossed that they get it right this time as it's been going on for 4 months now and I'm rather fed up!

Anyway, enough whinging and on to the new challenge at Make My Monday. Joan has chosen a favourite of mine, Autumn Colours, which I love as I'm an Autumn girl by birth and in fact have a birthday I'd rather forget coming up soon - aargh!

I hope you like my inspiration which is the result of a hunt through my bits and pieces box where I came across a piece of watercolour paper stamped with a Hero Arts flower using Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge and Aged Mahogany Distress inks. As it was cream, I sponged on Mustard Seed and Wild Honey DIs for a lovely warm glow.
I then embossed a panel of kraft card with a Darice Autumn leaves folder and swiped Versacolor Paprika over the raised areas. I added this to the paper panel then tied round some rusty gingham ribbon before sticking to the card.
I added some leaves (a very old Rubber Stampede image) which had been stamped by adding Distress re-inkers to a paper towel to make an ink pad. I cut these out to leave a narrow border and added them with foam tape for dimension.
I finished off with some text in a metal frame I've had for rather a long time! A Junkitz Tim Holtz set in antique copper.

Have a great week and see you soon.

Girls Will Be Girls

Hello again and welcome to my inspiration for the new challenge over at That's Crafty Challenge Blog with the theme for the next fortnight of Girls Will Be Girls.
I've chosen to use my most girly stamps for a card, these being my Paper Artsy Liz Borer set of stamps which are so deliciously feminine and pretty.

Here are the elements before I assembled the card:

I made the background paper with Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints in Sherbert, Rose and Lilac which I sponged on a piece of mixed media paper for a shabby chic effect. I then used the Tim Holtz Flourish Layering Stencil on the left half of the painted paper with DecoArt Fluid Acrylic in Green Gold. I distressed the edges with an emery board.
I stamped the square framed image on smooth cartridge paper with VersaMark ink, embossed it with Detail Copper Embossing Powder and coloured it with watercolour pencils before cutting it out and distressing the edges as before.
I made a mat for the main image by painting round the edges with Lilac and Orchid Fresco Finish Acrylics and then stamping on the small wrought iron style image with Ranger Archival Fern Green ink and distressed the edges.
I coloured a scrap of cartridge paper with the pink and lilac paints, stencilled it lightly with the green paint and then stamped with the birthday sentiment from the Tim Holtz Crazy Talk stamp set and Archival Coffee ink.
I assembled the card as you see adding lace, flowers and bronze gems.

Have a great day and a lovely weekend.
